Dear Parents of Blandford Kindergarten Students,
Your child will be starting school on Monday, August 20th. The Kindergarten teachers are excited about the year ahead and all of the wonderful things your child will learn.
In order for the teachers to get to know your child better, the date of August 10th has been set for ALL beginning Kindergarten students and parents to come to Blandford Elementary School for an informational meeting and observation of Kindergarten readiness.
During this time, a Kindergarten teacher will ask your child to perform certain tasks and answer some questions: EXAMPLES of the questions:
- What is your first name? What is your last name?
- Write your name, Example -- Ann Lee (Correct form) -- ANN LEE (Non correct form)
- Count out loud from 1 - 30
- Identify colors (red, blue, green, black, brown, white, yellow, purple, etc.)
- Identify and name shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, etc.)
- Identify and name alphabet letters (A – Z)
While your child is completing the tasks you will meet with another Kindergarten teacher for an informational meeting. These sessions will be held in classroom K2. Please be patient. As students complete the tasks, they will be returned to you and you will be free to leave. Please allow 1 ½ hours to complete the whole process.

- Thursday, August 16th, Kindergarten Orientation 10:00 a.m. for you and your child.
- Monday, August 20th, First day of school. (Please have an adult attend the first day of school with your Kindergartner from 7:45 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.)
