I hope that everyone had a great long weekend and that you were able to enjoy some time with family and friends. Now that we are in our 4th week of school, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some important information with you.
Thank you to everyone for helping to make our Arrival and Dismissal as safe and smooth as possible. I appreciate your efforts in assisting with moving 700 students in and out of the school. It is quite the task to make this happen in such a short time!
I ask that all parents/families who drop-off and pick-up with a vehicle to keep safety as your top concern. Blandford Drive is a busy street; during arrival and dismissal, many students are in the area. It is my first priority that no student is hurt during this time. As such, I have reached out to the police department to assist as much as possible during these times. However, we need everyone’s cooperation to ensure the safety of our students. Please remember the following:
Watch your speed! Please drive slowly at all times.
Drop-off/pick-up lane: no parking in this lane, moving up to front of lane, if your child hasn’t come out after 4 minutes, please drive around the block. We need this lane to keep moving.
Pay close attention to the crossing guard and come to a complete stop when required.
Exercise patience and be considerate of others.
Do not double park or drop off in the middle of the street; don’t park in front of driveways.
Do not use the parking lot for parking, or pick-up/drop-off. This lot is for staff only.
Thank you for those of you who attended my Coffee & Conversation sessions. If you were unable to attend, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you would like to speak. I believe in open communication and would be happy to spend a few minutes talking to you.
Now that we are well into the school year, please continue to make every effort to bring your child to school on time every day. Please refer to our Attendance/Lateness Policy so we can continue Blandford’s exemplary record of attendance.
I am looking for ways for parents to be involved in Blandford school. If you have any ideas for ways that you would like to be involved, please let me know. Some possible ideas include: Parent/student Gardening Committee, Recycling Committee, Recess Coaches, etc.
Picture Day is September 16th! Have your child dress in his/her best!
