Special Features and Programs
- Grades 2-4 participate in the M.I.N.D program: students learn piano keyboarding and temporal special reasoning through computer math games
- Students in grades 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in band or the string orchestra (violin, cello)
- Our Community of Caring projects, which promote the importance of family, are emphasized through Family Math and Literacy Nights, and many cultural events. During Family Math Nights parents are given the opportunity to play math games with their children and learn fun strategies to help their children gain math power. Family Literacy Night is a cozy time when students enjoy stories read to them by teachers as their parents listen and learn (through teacher modeling) how to enhance the love of literature.
- Teachers attend after-school training and grade-level articulation with grade-level team members on improving the writing process. Student writing is read and scored by rubrics by several teachers. Grade- level standards are examined and lessons that foster attainment of standards are developed and shared.
- Fourth through sixth grade students have the opportunity to participate in student government through an active Student Council.
- Track and field competitions are held for grades 4-6
